John Said, Fresh Select P/L – Applying science to support horticultural business.
10.00 – 10.30 am	MORNING TEA
10.30 – 12.30 pm	Horticultural Science making a difference – applications in businesses Associate Professor David Aldous – Health and economic Implications derived from lifestyle horticulture products and services. FR Harker & SR Jaeger – Consumer preferences and choices of fruit. Gerard McEvilly et al. – Supply chain thinking can transform science into business outcomes. Scott Ledger, Peter Hofman and Sarah Faris – Using science approaches to add value to horticultural supply chains SP Singh & Z Singh – Major flavour components, sugars and organic acids of Japanese plums as impacted by various factors. This talk is presented by the PhD student awarded the 2008 AuSHS Student Travel Award.

1.30 – 3.00 pm	The 'Harvest Company' Great Debate: International trends – a world of controversy. Is science supporting, avoiding or clashing with international trends? Issues such as food security water, global competiveness, foods for health, emissions trading, food miles and ethical food production will be explored with a diverse panel by facilitator Mike Williams. Audience participation will be strongly encouraged.
