Membership classes

Membership is open to any person, corporation or institution who supports the objectives of the Society. Five classes of membership are available:

Active

For persons actively employed or professionally engaged in horticulture. Active members have the right to vote, hold elective office, serve on Committees and to receive other privileges as decided by the Management Committee.

Student

For students enrolled in an accredited university or college. Student members receive services equivalent to an active member except that of eligibility to hold elective office. Application for and annual renewal of Student membership must be certified by their Head of Department or equivalent.

Retired

For retired members who are at least 55 years old and no longer in full time employment. Retired members receive services equivalent to an active member except that of eligibility to hold elective office.

Company

For a business, firm, organisation or individual contributing to the support of the Society's objectives and participating in its activities. A Company member shall designate an official representative to receive the privileges and services of an Active member.

Affiliate

Any research, development, extension, educational institution or other society concerned with activities related to the objectives of the Society may apply for Affiliate membership and will receive copies of all of the Society's publications.

Honorary

Any deserving individual who, in the opinion of the Management Committee, has made a major contribution to horticultural science in its widest sense may be nominated and elected as an Honorary member. An Honorary member has all the privileges of an Active member except that of eligibility to hold elective office.
